I don’t know how I stumbled upon these pages but it doesn’t matter. Thank you for your sharing your story and I applaud your commitment to healing people rather than mere bodies. My wife (also a nurse) and I just went to our first appointment and were told our baby had no heartbeat. We were shocked and utterly heartbroken. We have found some peace in our faith but are still struggling with feelings of loss, resentment, and sadness.

I also wanted to thank you for mentioning the fathers in these sad situations. Many of us aren’t always (or don’t want to always be) the strong rock unable to waver or show weakness or grief. Just today I spent 15 minutes crying at my desk, alone. As fathers, we miss out on the incredible closeness a mother develops with the baby growing inside her. For us it is a mysterious journey but one witnessed from afar. We participate from a distance, even if it is mere inches. Sometimes we struggle with the whole concept of pregnancy which makes it even more bizarre when the child is lost. And while we don’t undergo the physical results of a miscarriage… we do struggle with the feelings of mourning a life we created and were never able to hold… even in the embrace of a womb. My thoughts are with you and all who have lost a child. We mourn, we count our blessings, and we pray that God will bless us with another child down the road.
